Looking for the top places to elope in Jim Thorpe, PA or the Pocono Mountains? You have plenty to choose from, stunning converted barns, mountain overlooks, waterfalls, woodland chapels, historic streets, private estates, gardens and even a park filled with giant standing stones.
We’ve helped so many couples plan and photograph their elopements throughout Jim Thorpe and the Poconos, and along the way we’ve got to know some pretty incredible places to say “I do.”
We have established partnerships with a couple of these locations too, so they’re places we genuinely know and work with regularly. Each offers something completely different, depending on how you picture your elopement day.
And the best location isn’t necessarily the biggest, fanciest or most dramatic. It’s the one that feels right for the two of you.
Here are some of our top places to elope in Jim Thorpe, PA and the Pocono Mountains.
The Barn at Gravers Tree Farm
If you’re searching for a barn elopement venue near Jim Thorpe, PA, The Barn at Graver’s Tree Farm gives you that beautiful rustic barn feel without turning your intimate elopement into a full-blown traditional wedding.
Surrounded by open farmland and the tree farm itself, there’s plenty of outdoor space for photographs and your ceremony, while the timber-framed barn gives you an indoor option too. And in Pennsylvania, having a Plan B that doesn’t involve everyone frantically refreshing the weather app is never a bad thing.
There’s also private space for getting ready on-site, making it easy to keep your elopement relaxed and everything in one place. This venue continues to be a favorite of ours and our past couples.
One important thing to know: The Barn at Graver’s Tree Farm is available for our elopements on weekdays only, so if you’ve fallen in love with this location, you’ll need to plan your elopement for Monday through Thursday.
The Barn at Graver’s Tree Farm might be right for you if:
- You love rustic barns, timber and countryside
- You’re happy to elope on a weekday
- You want both indoor and outdoor ceremony options
- You’d like somewhere private to get ready
- You’d like a location that’s easy to enjoy with a small number of guests

Columcille Megalith Park
If you’re looking for a unique place to elope in the Poconos, Columcille Megalith Park is difficult to beat.
This peaceful hillside sanctuary is filled with enormous standing stones inspired by Celtic sacred sites, along with woodland paths and quiet spaces tucked throughout the park.
It’s unusual. It’s atmospheric. It’s a tiny bit otherworldly.
An elopement here can feel incredibly private and intentional, particularly if you’re planning a ceremony with just the two of you.
Columcille Megalith Park might be right for you if:
- You want somewhere genuinely unusual
- You’re drawn to Celtic history, symbolism or spiritual places
- You love woodland and natural surroundings
- You want photographs with atmosphere and texture
- A quiet, intimate ceremony is exactly what you’re imagining

Pocono Weddings LLC – The Chapel in the Woods
If privacy is high on your list, a private Pocono elopement venue can give you the mountain scenery you want without sharing the experience with hikers, tourists or whoever happens to wander past at precisely the wrong moment.
Pocono Weddings LLC offers rolling grounds, mountain views and a private setting with their venue, The Chapel in the Woods.
We photographed Matt & Tera’s elopement here, and it’s a great option for couples who want their day to feel like a little destination wedding while staying right here in the Poconos.
There are also private bridal and groom suites, meaning you can get ready on-site and keep much of your day in one location.
This private Pocono venue in the woodland might be right for you if:
- Privacy is important to you
- You want mountain and woodland scenery without a public park
- You’d like somewhere to get ready on-site
- You don’t want lots of travel between locations
- You want your elopement to have a private destination feel

Hickory Run State Park
For couples dreaming about a Pocono Mountains elopement surrounded by nature, Hickory Run State Park offers waterfalls, woodland trails, streams and the park’s famous Boulder Field.
There’s also Hickory Run Chapel, giving you the option of having a simple ceremony in a rustic chapel before heading out into the park for your photographs.
We photographed Melaine & Richie’s elopement here, and it’s a fantastic choice for couples who don’t simply want nature as their backdrop; they want being outdoors to actually be part of their day.

Downtown Jim Thorpe, PA
You don’t need to disappear into the mountains to find an amazing Jim Thorpe elopement location.
Downtown Jim Thorpe gives you something completely different.
Formerly known as Mauch Chunk, the town is filled with Victorian architecture, historic buildings, old streets, the train station and mountain scenery rising around it. It’s a brilliant option if you want photographs that capture the character of Jim Thorpe itself rather than spending your entire elopement in the wilderness.
Downtown can also work particularly well if you’re inviting a handful of guests. You’ll find accommodation, restaurants and plenty to explore nearby, making it easy to turn your elopement into a few days away in the Poconos.
Downtown Jim Thorpe might be right for you if:
- You love history and Victorian architecture
- You want photographs around Jim Thorpe itself
- You’re bringing some special guests
- You’d like restaurants and accommodation nearby
- You want to combine historic streets with beautiful mountain scenery
- You’d love your elopement to double as a little getaway

100 Mile View
If you started searching for places to elope in the Pocono Mountains because you want one heck of a mountain view, this one deserves your attention. 100 Mile View is all about the scenery.
The elevated location gives you huge, uninterrupted views stretching across the surrounding mountains, creating an incredible backdrop for a simple elopement ceremony.
And when the light starts dropping towards the mountains later in the day? Even better.
There’s very little competing for attention here, which is exactly the point.
It’s you two and that enormous view.
100 Mile View might be right for you if:
- Mountain views are at the very top of your list
- You want big, sweeping elopement photographs
- You prefer scenery to architecture
- You want a simple ceremony somewhere spectacular
- You’re dreaming about golden-hour photographs overlooking the Poconos

Luzerne County Courthouse
If you’re looking for somewhere super intimate but still breathtaking, Luzerne County Courthouse is a bit of a hidden gem.
The architecture here is absolutely stunning and gives you all the grandeur and character you could want for epic photographs. It feels historic, impressive and wonderfully intimate all at the same time.
For couples who love beautiful architecture, a courthouse elopement here can feel incredibly special, particularly if you want the focus to stay firmly on the two of you. That’s exactly what April and TJ wanted.
And your day doesn’t have to end when you walk out of the courthouse doors. We can head out afterwards for photographs, explore Jim Thorpe or the surrounding Poconos, grab some champagne, and make an entire elopement experience out of it.
Luzerne County Courthouse might be right for you if:
- You want a super intimate ceremony
- You love breathtaking historic architecture
- You want somewhere that feels impressive
- You’d prefer an indoor ceremony rather than worrying about the weather
- You want to keep the ceremony beautifully simple and spend the rest of your elopement exploring together

Harmony Gardens
Not every Pocono elopement needs hiking boots and a mountain.
If you love the intimacy of eloping but would prefer somewhere softer and a little more polished, Harmony Gardens offers a peaceful private garden setting surrounded by manicured grounds and greenery.
It gives you a romantic garden feel without automatically turning the day into a large traditional wedding.
For couples who find a big venue too much but aren’t quite sold on standing halfway up a mountain either, this can be a lovely middle ground.
Harmony Gardens might be right for you if:
- You love gardens and greenery
- You want an intimate garden elopement
- You prefer manicured grounds to rugged landscapes
- You want something elegant without feeling overly formal
- You’d like more of a mini-wedding feel for your elopement

How Do You Choose Where to Elope in Jim Thorpe?
Choosing your elopement location isn’t really about finding the place you’re supposed to love. It’s about finding the one that feels most like the two of you.
Maybe that’s complete privacy with nobody else around. Maybe it’s wandering the historic streets of Downtown Jim Thorpe after saying “I do.” You might want your closest people there, somewhere indoors so the weather doesn’t get a vote, or a location where you can get ready and have your ceremony all in one place.
Or maybe you’re here for the mountains, waterfalls, and woodland trails.
The good news? You don’t have to decide right now – we at Jim Thorpe Elopements will guide you!
Why not head over to our online gallery, where you can dive deeper into each of the different venues and locations and see more photographs from real couples who chose Jim Thorpe Elopements.
See what grabs you. Picture yourselves there. And don’t be surprised if the location you fall in love with isn’t the one you expected.
